Slicer by aquanode

Slicer is a simple recreation of a well-known drum slicing plugin present in my favourite DAW, as I don't know of any other simple slicing plugin that focuses only on slicing without any hassle like installers, online activations or crowded UI.

Slicer comes in 2 versions, version 1.0 is a basic simple one and version 1.1 introduces a random stream playback mode (when you keep B1 or B2 note pressed depending on your DAW), a reverse playback mode, a resample slider and the option to delete slices using right-clicking next to the already implemented creation (clicking twice) and shaping (click and drag) modes from version 1.0. Exporting to FLAC recognizes the reverse and playback speed modes and saves the slices accordingly to your desired location.

With it you can load any sample and it tries to detect transients where a new drum starts. It is mainly meant for drums but you might get interesting granular sounds when using pads for example and when you turn up the slice strenght knob. You can of course manually change the slice positions after they are created, and create new slices as well. Saving the state is a bit difficult, so be warned before you make too much additions and don't save the slices as FLAC before closing your DAW.

If files of the same name are already present in the saving location, they will be automatically overwritten! The naming convention is "slice_001_C2" for the 1st slice and so on.

Like my other plugins this was made with huge help of Claude Sonnet 4.5 AI. Thanks for checking it out!

Controls:

  • Load Sample: Loads your sample, many file formats are supported.
  • Re-Analyze: When you made region changes, press re-analyze to update.
  • Region Start: Choose where the plugin should start slicing.
  • Region End: Choose where the plugin should end slicing.
  • Slice Strength: The higher, the more slices placed at positions where the algorithm thinks a new drum starts. Higher values might get inaccurate.
  • Volume: Overall volume.
  • Fadeout (ms): How quickly the volume drops to 0 at the end of each slice.
  • Mode Selector: Select the slicing algorithm. This mainly concerns the end of a sample.
    • Full Length: A slice ends (and the next starts) with a basic transient detection.
    • -40dB: Like Full Length mode but the end of the slice is recalculated in such a way that it ends when in the last 10% of the slice the volume dips below -40 dB.
    • Smart/Quiet Trim: Like Full Length mode but the end of the slice is recalculated in such a way that it ends where the quietest point in the last 10% of the slice is. This achieves the greatest results in my testing (classic Jungle/DnB break slicing), and it is the default mode.
  • Export as FLAC: Exports all slices with the current settings to disc. It will save 24 bit 48 kHz linearly interpolated FLAC files.
